Srisilam dam under threat while Nagarjunasagar to collapse soon, says waterman of India, Rajendra Singh
The Srisailam Dam, which is a major source for irrigation and drinking water, is under trouble as per the report of Rajendra Sindh who is known to be waterman of India. Rajendra Singh who is on a tour Gangajal Literature Yatra had said that the Srisailam project is in danger.
Rajendra Singh warns that the dam is in danger. Due to severe hydraulic pressure, the speed of water is high. Water leakages are more likely to have happened with cracks. "With the damage of Srisailam dam, the state would become deserted with water scarcity. Nagarjuna dam is collapsing. No engineers are coming to work at the dam or the dam. A special system for the management of dams across the country is proposed," Rajendra Singh asserted
Rajendra Singh expressed the view that governments are not taking responsibilities to maintain the projects other than building projects on rivers. The government should focus on the maintenance of the dam constructed near waterways. Funds should be allocated for the Dam Rehabilitation Improvement Project-2.
