ST communities asked to make use of Central, State schemes: Judge G Venkata Krishnaiah

Nellore: Principal District and Sessions Judge G Venkata Krishnaiah advised the Scheduled Tribes to utilise government schemes and other provisions for their development. He addressed at the special legal services camp at Golagamudi on Saturday.

There are many schemes for them and they have to understand what the Constitution has given them. He said there are hostels and residential schools and colleges for them to complete at least graduation for getting employment in various sectors. He said that the legal services authority is ready to support them.

He said they had received 584 appeals from people belonging to STs in the district and around 400 have been in progress. He said a help desk has been arranged at the ITDA office for resolving issues of the community people.

In-charge Collector Dr V Vinod Kumar said though there are many provisions for the ST population in the country, people are not utilising them due to ignorance. Project Director of ITDA Sada Bhargavi explained about the programmes meant for the STs through a power-point presentation. Officials from the Police, ICDS, ITDA, BC Welfare and other departments participated.
