Stagnated water root cause malaria: Civic chief

Vijayawada: Everyone should clean their surroundings and cover the places where the water was stagnated to prevent breeding of mosquitoes causing malaria, said Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner M Rama Rao. He participated in a meeting organised by Gunaditya Integral Foundation on the prevention of malaria to mark World Malaria Day here on Thursday.

On this occasion, he said that everyone should take precautions to get rid of malaria. He suggested people to use mosquito nets to prevent malaria. Prevention is better than cure, he quipped. He explained various measures taken by VMC to prevent spread of mosquitoes and malaria.

Chief medical officer of health Arjun Rao, health officers, members of Gunaditya Integral Foundation and others were present.
