State Government neglecting MGNREGA, withheld material component funds: Gurumurthy
Amaravati: The members of State Employment Guarantee Council blamed that the YSRCP government has been showing vindictive attitude in implementation of MGNREGA programme in the state.
The members of the Council, including V Venkata Gurumurthy and others submitted a representation to the Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan on Friday at Vijayawada.
Gurumurthy informed that, after the change of the government in the state, the pace of the programme has been very disappointing.
The provisions of the MGNREG Act and directions of the Government of India have been wilfully neglected and violated.
For instance, the suppliers of material component for the different works, who supplied critical raw material for completion of the works, were left in the lurch and their payments are held up wilfully, he alleged.
Even though the union government has released the material component of Rs 1845 cr in three phases against the state entitlement of Rs 2230 cr, the authorities of state government have not disbursed the amount.
He alleged that the state government failed to clear the pending liabilities under material component.
This pathetic situation has forced the departments to stop works under Convergence and, as a noteworthy example, the Forest Department has openly announced that they cannot continue these activities due to nonpayment of material component.
In addition to that, the instructions issued by the state government to stall all works that are under 25 percent completion has led to sudden blockade of all development works.
They have commenced based on the resolutions of respective Gram Panchayats, he informed.
The members also informed the governor that, state government has been showing vengeful attitude towards the field staff of the MGNREGA. With this, lot of uncertainty prevailing in the implementation of the scheme.
