State govt committed to sports development: Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao
Nellore: Minister for Sports, Tourism, Culture & Youth Advancement Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao informed that they were developing playgrounds across the State similar to international stadiums to encourage players in rural areas.
He inaugurated the AP CM Cup State level Ball Badminton tourney at the Zilla Parishad High School premises in Podalakur on Saturday.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Srinivasa Rao said that the government was conducting State-level sports in all districts. "State government is offering a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh for the gold medal, Rs 2.5 lakh for silver medal and Rs 1 lakh for the bronze to the players who demonstrate good performance at State-level sports. The government had allocated Rs 2 crore for the prize money," he said.
The Minister assured that they would develop Kakani Ramana Reddy Playground in Podalakur.
Collector MV Seshagiri Babu said that the State government was developing Kreeda Vikas Kendras to encourage sports. A stadium with international standards is being developed at Mogallapalem in Nellore rural mandal at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
Tirupati MP Balli Durga Prasad Rao listed out the welfare schemes for students being implemented by the government. Sarvepalli MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy presided over the meeting.
Gudur MLA V Vara Prasad Rao, Kavali MLA R Pratap Kumar Reddy, SETNEL CEO Susmitha Reddy and others were present.
