Step up vigil on eve-teasers in villages: DIG L K V Ranga Rao to Mahila Mitras

Vizianagaram: Visakhapatnam Range DIG L K V Ranga Rao on Saturday instructed the Mahila Mitras to observe strict vigil in villages and inform the police on eve teasers, who create nuisance and resort to humiliate girls and lonely women.

Addressing a training programme for Mahila Mitras here, the DIG called upon Mahila Mitras not to tolerate anybody while controlling law and order. "We should curb crime against women and children. Our duty is to create a peaceful society," said the DIG.

He said that freedom and security of women should be top agenda of police and added awareness should be created among the public on women safety and security and self-respect of women should be protected at any cost. SP B Rajakumari said girl students should be aware of woman laws provided under the Constitution.

She asked her staff to create awareness among women and girls on dialing women safety helplines 1091, 100, 112 and 181 during emergency. OSD J Rammohana Rao and N Sridevi Rao participated in the programme.
