Steps to ease traffic congestion need of hour in Anantapur
Anantapur: City traffic police are being urged by general public to handle traffic congestion efficiently. Traffic overcrowding and irregular traffic has become order of the day in Anantapur town.
Owing to the traffic overcrowding in the unusual intersections the liberated stream of vehicles speed is low compared to the design speed. Municipal authorities and police officials should work together to ease traffic congestion and reduce atmospheric pollution. Environmental pollution increases due to traffic delay and overcrowding, according to sources.
Slow moving vehicles, motorcycles, autos, transport vehicles, cars, cabs, heavy vehicles will also cause delay and overcrowding of traffic in Kamalanagar, DCMS Road, Railway feeder Road, Raju Road and Old town areas. Apart from these, political processions, dharnas, strikes and religious processions will affect traffic movement. At peak time, most of the two-wheelers park vehicles in two layers and hardly 2 feet is left between the vehicles. Due to this, four wheelers have to do circus. Separate traffic bays should be identified for vehicles and bike riders. Users have to park their vehicles at provided regions and bays. Well planning shopping mall must be allowable in town with proper parking area and other amenities.
Road dividers placed in narrow roads creating several problems. Most two wheelers are taking the shortest path in opposite direction. Even heavy transport vehicle takes opposite direction near Gowri theatre as it is difficult to move the vehicle in narrow road. Construction work and pandals (Ayyappa puja/marriages/functions) in slums creating nuisance.
Everyday There will be 5,000-10,000 visitors to Anantapur. Most of the girls coming from nearby villages to district headquarters for taking admission/taking examination/ attending competitive examinations/coaching/shopping etc do not have washrooms. Open defecation is common in most of the places. Urinals are poured in the municipal shopping complex and vegetable market near clock tower. Public toilets are in terrible shape. Road from Sanghamesh circle to RF road is in bad shape and foul smell will be coming from the drainage and open defecation. Alternative routes should be provided for two wheelers as they are lashing vehicles in zigzag manner with unusual speeds on the major roads. A scientific approach is required to handle traffic delay and overcrowding.
