Stir against detention of Left leaders in Kashmir
Tirupati: Protesting the detention of secretaries of CPM and CPI, Sitaram Yechury and D Raja respectively in Kashmir, the activists of two Left parties staged a protest here on Friday evening.
The two leaders, who are stoutly opposing the scrapping of Article 370 by the Central government, were detained at Srinagar Airport and sent back foiling their attempt to meet Kashmiri leaders opposing the abrogation of the Article 370 and also the people to find out their reaction on the latest developments in the valley.
Chittoor district secretaries of the CPI and CPM Rama Naidu and Pullaiah respectively condemned the arrest of Yechury and Raja which they said is against democratic norms. The leaders said the Modi government resorting to repression to stifle the voice of dissent on Kashmir issue.
