Strengthen RTI Act: Forum

Srikakulam: Right to Information Act (RTIA) needs to be strengthened more to prevent corruption in public domain, said RTIA United Forum State secretary K Sivaprasada Rao.

Speaking at district-level united forum awareness meeting on RTIA here on Sunday, he strongly objected to proposed changes in RTIA which will defeat main aim of the Act. He appealed to people to be active to prevent anomalies in administrative system which is a root cause for corruption.

United Forum vice-president V Raghura said that the officials were intentionally delaying in providing information which is leading to pendency of cases and people may lost confidence on the system.

On the occasion, the United Forum passed several resolutions like to arrange a help desk at Collector's office on every Monday at 'Spandana' venue to guide the people on RTIA and create awareness on massive scale among public at village and mandal-level.
