Students told to excel beyond academic activities in IIIT Sri City

Tirupati: IIIT Sri City organised a colourful inaugural ceremony for two-weeks Student Induction Programme (SIP) at its premises on Sunday. The purpose of holding SIP is to make the firstyear students to adapt to the new academic and living environments.

Director of Sathish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR Sriharikota A Rajarajan was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Addressing the students, he highlighted the need for excelling in activities beyond academics. The future of jobs is based on the skills to adapt to dynamically changing requirements of the organisations. He advised the students to make use of the industrial environment available in Sri City.

Director of IIIT Sri City Dr G Kannabiran presented the long list of achievements of the institute and explained the future plans. He shared the details of the new curriculum that supports practice-based learning through semester-long industry-based projects.

Dr GV Chalam, Advisor Campus Life and Coordinator of SIP explained about activities of the programme. He advised the students to actively take part in the programme. Dr Rajendra Prasanth, Prof Viswanath and other faculty took part in the programme.

IIIT-Sri City admitted 265 students in first year B.Tech for this academic year. This includes eight students under DASA (Direct Admission of Students from Abroad) and Study in India Programme.
