Supply of essentials at the doorsteps in Kavali

Nellore: In the light of huge restrictions on the movement of the town population as part of lockdown, Kavali Sub Collector Ch Sridhar has started an initiative of supplying essential commodities and vegetables to the denizens at their doorsteps. He requested the local traders, supermarkets, and wholesale stores for supplying the essential commodities to the people who have been confined to the doorsteps.

Senior Revenue Official has planned to implement the social distance in the small town and discussed with the trading community for the measures to be taken for the immediate supply of the commodities to the people giving no scope for congestions.

The Sub Collector discussed with the local MLA Pratap Reddy and said on Wednesday that the markets are open in the town between 6 am and 1 pm and the traders and wholesale dealers will supply the material on orders to around 560 flats located in 42 apartments initially. Mobile vehicles carry vegetables to these apartments and sell there maintaining social distance. Shops that sell milk, grocery, and fruits are open up to 1 pm and the Sub Collector said now 250 quintals of vegetables are ready against the requirement of 175 quintals for the needs of the local population. He said people can place orders to the local traders over the phone and their vehicles would be allowed to supply the groceries. DSP D Prasad was also present.
