Suresh gets hockey excellence award

Bhimavaram: At a function held to mark Hockey Andhra Pradesh fifth anniversary at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, GVIT educational institutions secretary and correspondent G Suresh received hockey excellence award from Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan in recognition to his services to the growth of hockey sport in West Godavari district.

According to a GVIT press release, Suresh played an instrumental role in development of hockey sport from village-level. He conducted women hockey state tournament, national and district-level coaching camps successfully in 2015 and 2019.

The Hockey Andhra Pradesh appealed to the colleges and orgnisations to come forward to safeguard the sport in the state as key hockey grounds and assets were possessed by Telangana at the time of bifurcation of the state. The governor who was chief guest at the event presented awards to many others from the state for working for the growth of the sport.

Hockey Andhra Pradesh president Mukhesh Kumar Meena, director M Niranjan Reddy, Guntur Collector Samuel Anand Kumar and others were present at the awards presentation function.
