Ongole: The Survey, Settlements and Land Records department in the state wishes to rebuild the missing field measurement books (FMBs) by conducting field survey, wherever the FMBs are not available due to various reasons.

There are about 49 lakh FMBs prepared between 1880 and 1980 in various phases for the 1,7461 villages in the state. The government wanted to digitise all these records for public access through MeeBhoomi portal and started scanning them in June 2016.

The digitisation is completed for 98 per cent of the FMBs with a two-step quality check and digital chain and stored in the central server. In the process, the department found that 95,233 FMBs, about 1.9 per cent of the total 49 lakh FMBs, are missing or in torn or faded condition.

The director of Survey, Settlements and Land Records, Dr. N Prabhakar Reddy informed the district officials that the department planned to prepare the fresh FMBs in the place of missing FMBs by conducting a field survey under the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Survey and Boundary Act, 1923.

He said that the list of missing FMBs with their survey numbers were placed in the CCLA website at ccla.gp.gov.in for the reference of public and requested if any person has any of those FMBs please approach the concerned assistant director in their district by June 6.

The director asked the public to attend and cooperate with the surveyors when they visit their villages and conduct the survey of lands.
