Suspense continues over Chandrababu's Kuppam tour amid govt's restrictions
There is suspense over TDP chief Chandrababu's Kuppam tour amid the government's GO imposing restrictions on Public meetings and rallies on roads. While Chandrababu's secretary handed over the tour details for the three days to the police, the police issued a notice to provide details of road shows, meetings, and gatherings during the tour.
However, the police denied the permission as the TDP did not respond to those notices and warned of strict action if meetings were held without permission. However, TDP said that there is no going back on the Kuppam tour.
On the other hand, it is known that the AP government has decided to control roadshow meetings and rallies in the state in the wake of the recent stampede incidents in Kandukur of Nellore and Guntur district and issued guidelines to this effect.
The provisions of the Police Act will be enforced on municipal, panchayat roads. The Ministry of Home Affairs said in the directives that road shows should not be held in those areas and however said that conditional permission will be given in rare cases.
