SVU committed to strengthening higher edn, says VC Prof V N N Rajendra Prasad
Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara University is committed to carry forward the work of strengthening the Higher Education system with even greater energy and sense of purposefulness in the future, said Prof V N N Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor of the university, here on Saturday.
Speaking at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the SV University College of Engineering, he said, "We will not only continue our focus on 3 Es of Expansion, Excellence and Equity but also add a fourth E – Employability -."
The function was held at University Auditorium on Saturday. Addressing the old and present students of the college, the Vice-Chancellor said that 60 years is a very long period in the life of an institution and to celebrate successful completion of 59 years is indeed an occasion to be joyous.
"On this occasion, I would first like to congratulate the administrators, Members of the Executive Council, the Principal, the staff and the students of SVU College of Engineering," he said.
He said 'diamond' has been the standard of exemplary purity and excellence since time immemorial and said he was very happy to be a part of this milestone of SVU College of Engineering.
Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering was established as a constituent college of the Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, in the year 1959 with an objective to providing engineering education to the students aspiring to take technical education in rural area.
Another guest, DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy said that technologically there were many advanced changes taking place. With indigenous technology, Defence Research Development Organisation had developed the Arjun Tank. And India ranks among the top nations in space technology, he pointed out.
From the beginning SV University College of Engineering produced many talented engineering graduates in its 75 years of its journey, Satheesh Reddy added.
College Principal Dr G N Pradeep Kumar and many alumni of SVUEC took part in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
