Syndicate Bank staff protest over bank mergers in Ongole
Ongole: The Syndicate Bank employees and officers organized a protest in front of their regional office at Bhagyanagar in Ongole on Friday, demanding the government to take back its decision of merging Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank.
The Syndicate Bank Employees Union leader U Venugopal said that they are organizing protests against the announced merger on every Friday, but the government is not responding to them. He warned the government to not test their patience as it will suffer a lot in the future.
The Syndicate Bank Officers Association leader Kishore Reddy said that the public and employees are getting ready to teach a lesson to the government if it will not change its mind. SBEU leader Ch Rakesh Kiran demanded the government to explain at least one benefit to the public by merging the banks and convince them.
SBOA leader P Dinesh Reddy said that the government is confusing the public with its mindless decisions. The UFBU leader V Ramachandra Rao said that the bank employees cooperated with the government when it introduced demonetizations and Jan Dhan accounts and even worked in the night time to make them successful.
He said that it is unfair on the part of the government to ruin the future of the same bank employees who rendered selfless service. M Narendra Babu, P Brahmaiah, Ravindra, P Sekhar Babu, Venkatarao, R Sambasiva Rao, Suneel, TL Prasad, David King, Vishnuvardhan Raju, Ranjit, and others also participated in the program.
