The Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting of the Municipal and Urban Development department here on Friday and said that these two urban areas to be developed as model municipalities.

At the time of confusing statements from various ministers on the very existence of the capital city itself, the Chief Minister's remarks on these two towns gained importance. Though the two municipalities fall under the capital region, they are not in the core capital city.

At least 15,000 house sites should be given in Tadepalli on the Ugadi day and a proposal for a 100-bed hospital in Tadepalli should also be prepared soon, Chief Minister told the officials.

There was a detailed discussion on the rehabilitation of evacuees from the river banks and the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to relocate them at a nearby place after evacuating them from the river beds. He discussed on the unauthorised constructions along the River Krishna, in which one of the houses belongs to industrialist Lingamaneni Ramesh, wherein the leader of the opposition and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has been residing as a tenant.

If structures come on the river banks or in the course of river flow there will be danger of flooding of villages and cities. Such things should not happen and corruption should be rooted out, he said.

Drinking water facilities, waste management, hygiene, environment protection and underground drainage system should be given top priority and strengthened beside the upkeep of schools, the Chief Minister told the officials and asked them to make the best use of Village Secretariats and Village and Ward Volunteers for such works.
