Guntur: MP Galla Jayadev complained to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that TDP activists were being harassed with false cases and police were being misused by the state government. He submitted a memorandum to commission chairman H L Dattu in New Delhi on Tuesday.

In the complaint, Jayadev alleged that since YSRCP government came to power in the state, the attacks on TDP activists across the state were on rise and added that the YSRCP government was targeting the TDP sympathisers who supported the TDP in the recent elections. He said the following orders of the MLAs, the police officials are registering cases against the TDP activists under the non-bailable sections.

The MP recalled that unable to bear the harassment of the government, former Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao committed suicide. "Police registered 19 cases against Kodela Siva Prasada Rao's family members after the change of the government," he said. He said that when the TDP gave a call for Chalo Atmakur to highlight the atrocities on party sympathisers, the police foiled their agitation.

Rajya Sabha member Kanamedala Ravindra Kumar, MP K Rammohan Naidu, deputy floor leader of TDP in Rajya Sabha Thota Seetharama Lakshmi, MLC P Ashok Babu and MLA Maddali Giridhar signed the petition.
