TDP demands resignation of CM YS Jagan amid Supreme Court notices to govt
Amaravati: After Supreme Court denied issuing stay orders on High Court verdict on State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar case on Wednesday, the opposition TDP demanded the resignation of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on moral responsibility. The TDP said that the SC passed serious remarks against the State Government for unlawfully and unconstitutionally removing Ramesh Kumar from the SEC.
TDP Spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, in a press conference, said that if Jagan had any ethical values, he should immediately resign from the Chief Minister post in the wake of serious comments passed by the Chief Justice of India SA Bobde. While hearing the case, the CJI commented clearly that the AP Government's motive was not pure behind promulgating the Ordinance that led to the removal of Ramesh Kumar.
On the other hand, welcoming the SC orders, the BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana tweeted that the State government has to learn lessons from its mistakes and setbacks in Courts. He said that at least from now, the government must give due respect to the Constitutional bodies like the SEC and others.
