TDP gets a big jolt in Godavari districts

Rajamahendravaram: Voters in East and West Godavari districtsgave a jolt to TDP in the present elections for Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies. In 2014 elections, TDP won 14 Assembly seats out of 19 and three Parliamentary seats in East Godavari district; and won all 15 Assembly and two Parliamentary constituencies in West Godavari district.

But, in the present election, TDP won only five Assembly seats and YSRCP bagged 13 seats and Jana Sena Party got one seat in East Godavari district. In West Godavari district, YSRCP won 13 Assembly seats along with two Parliamentary constituencies, while TDP bagged only two Assembly seats.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan was defeated from BhimavaramAssembly constituency and his brother Nagababu also lost from Narsapuram parliamentary constituency. Their brother Chiranjeevi was also defeated from PalacolAssembly constituency in 2009 elections.

In the present polls, TDP had given tickets to 10 sitting MLAs and to five new persons in West Godavari district and out of them, one sittingMLA and one new candidate were elected. In East Godavari district Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa was elected with a less majority from PeddapuramAssembly constituency.
