TDP government delayed Polavaram works looking for kickbacks
Amaravati: New Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy on Saturday said that recovery of money that was looted from the government exchequer by the leaders in previous government is the main challenge in front of the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's government. He spoke to the media after taking oath as Minister at the Secretariat at Velagapudi.
Rajendranath Reddy further explained that they will finalise the modalities on how to go for the reverse tendering process, as proposed by the Chief Minister against all the major contracts executed by the TDP government. He further explained that it would be possible to collect the money from the contractors, who amassed public money through illegal means.
He said that there were so many allegations against the previous TDP government.Reacting on the delay in Polavaram works, he said that the previous government did not commence the works till 2016. He alleged that the TDP leaders delayed the project works waiting for kickbacks.
He further said that former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had spent more than Rs 9,000 per square feet for construction of Interim Government Complex, which could have been completed with just Rs 3,000. He said that many such incidents took place during the tenure of the previous State government and asserted that all irregularities will be probed.
