TDP government neglected IIITs: Minister A Suresh
Kadapa: Education Minister A Suresh has alleged that previous government was responsible for poor functioning of the IIITs by diverting the funds allotted to them to other purposes. Speaking to media persons after inspecting various ongoing development works at RK Valley in Idupulapaya on Friday, the Minister alleged that TDP government had misused Rs 180 crore which were allocated for development of IIITs. The funds were spent to Pasupu- Kunkuma scheme during 2019 elections, he said.
The Minister also flayed that during TDP regime all IIITs were functioning from private buildings despite availability of funds.
Suresh further said after YSR Congress came to the power Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen on constructing own buildings for IIITs with all infrastructure facilities. He said that Ongole campus which was running in temporary buildings in Idupulapaya for the last five years, has been shifted to Ongole in the previous academic year.
Earlier, the Minister has inspected ongoing development works - construction of 3 engineering buildings at an estimated cost of Rs 140 crore, YSR Auditorium Rs 40crore, venue for construction of YSR statue in RK Valley premises. Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy, Railway Kodur MLA K Srinivasulu, Collector Ch. Harikiran, Pulivendula Area Development Authority (PADA) OSD Anilkumar Reddy and others were present.
