TDP leader arrested for staging protest on road in Guntur

Guntur: Police arrested TDP Guntur district president G V Anjaneyalu on Saturday while he was protesting on the road at Savalyapuram alleging that the election officials violated the norms. The TDP leader alleged that Savalyapuram Mandal Parishad elections returning officer J Hyma Rao allowed withdrawals after completion of time against the election commission rules.

He said the officials had allowed withdrawals till 5 pm against the deadline of 3 pm set by Election Commission. The officials replied that they allowed withdrawals who came within stipulated time. Anjaneyalu warned that he will complain to the State Election Commission against J Hyma Rao.

The TDP activists raised slogans against the officials and demanded justice. Police rushed to the spot and requested Anjaneyalu to withdraw his protest. When the TDP leaders obstructing the vehicles, the police arrested Anjaneyalu and shifted to the police station. Later, the police released him on bail.
