Rajamahendravaram: Telugu Desam Party senior leader Ganni Krishna said that there was nothing wrong on the part of State Election Commission (SEC) to postpone the local body elections in the wake of Coronavirus.

Speaking to the media at his office here on Tuesday, he said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's allegations against SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar were highly improper and also openly speaking about the caste of Ramesh Kumar should be condemned by all. It was unfortunate that the Chief Minister has chosen to cast aspirations against the SEC, he lamented.

Ganni Krishna said that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was not able to digest the postponement of local body elections and hurling stones at the SEC. He recalled that no Chief Minister ever made allegations like this before. The SEC was supreme after issuing the election notification, he added. Moreover, writing a letter to the SEC by Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney was also not proper as from attender to Chief secretary all comes under the control of SEC, he added.

He said that the SEC has taken into consideration, the health of the people as huge gatherings may lead to the spread of the coronavirus, which was highly contagious. Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram has no right to criticise TDP founder NT Rama Rao and former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu as he owes his political life to the two leaders. Sitaram, who was ungrateful, has forgotten the 'bhiksha' given by two leaders, he said.
