TDP stages protests at Anna Canteens

Former Minister Gollapalli Surya Rao, former MLA D Subba Raju and Namana Rambabu and party activists staging dharna at Anna Canteen in Mummidivaram on Friday

Rajamahendravaram/Amalapuram: TDP has staged dharnas at all Anna canteens in the district on Friday, with a demand to reopen them immediately. The dharnas were held at Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada, Amalapuram, Mummidivaram and other places in the district.

Participating in the protest programme, MLA Adireddy Bhavani, party senior leader Ganni Krishna said that YSRCP government is starving the poor by closing Anna canteens which received tremendous response from the people across the state.

Former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu started Anna canteens with an aim to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for Rs 5 each every day. But, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy intentionally closed the canteens which should be condemned by all. TDP will fight against the government until it reopens the canteens, they averred.

Meanwhile, former Minister Gollapalli Surya Rao, TDP leaders Datla Subba Raju, Namana Rambabu and many others staged dharna at Anna canteen in Mummidivaram also demanding the government to reopen the canteens immediately.
