TDP, YSRCP hope to win majority seats in Kadapa district

Kadapa: Despite several development works were taken up by the State government, the ruling TDP has a mammoth task to break the influence of YSR family in Kadapa district in the election. It has put all efforts by spending crores of rupees for completion of pending works related to irrigation projects like Mylavaram, Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi, increasing the storage capacity of Gandikota reservoir up to 15 tmc ft, supplying water for agriculture operations in Pulivendula constituency, Pasupu- Kunkuma for Dwacra groups, loan waiver to the formers and other schemes.

The poll percentage was 77.41% in 2019 elections and both ruling TDP and YSRCP are hopeful of winning from majority of Assembly constituencies in the district. Particularly TDP is confident of winning Jammalamadugu, Rajampet and Mydukuru Assembly seats which recorded poll percentage of 85.4, 76.07 and 81.72 in that order.

It may be recalled that TDP which had secured 6 assembly segments in 1985, 1994 elections during NTR regime later lost glory due to various reasons including power politics resorted by YSR family for the last two decades in Kadapa district. In 2014 elections also TDP was able to win only one Rajampet against 10 assembly segments, 2 MP seats in the district.

However TDP able to increase its strength to 3 Assembly seats as Jammalamadugu MLA C Adinarayana Reddy and Badvel MLA T Jayaramulu joined the party in the middle of 2015.

Between 2016- 2019 TDP has taken up several developmental projects of which include bringing Krishna waters to Pulivendula Constituency which was not taken up even during YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime.

People got confidence on TDP rule and its capability in the effective implementation of welfare schemes and developmental projects. During the electioneering TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu highlighted various welfare schemes implemented in Kadapa district and at the same time he pointed out the bitter rule of YSR family including collection of 20 per cent tax from the farmers of their produce. There was good response from the people for the campaign.

The ruling party was able to convince the people that it has no role in the issues like Kodi-kathi and murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy. Both the incidents were falsely highlighted by YSRCP for its political mileage. Meanwhile YSRCP is also on high hopes of securing all the 10 assembly segments and Kadapa, Rajampet MP seats as it had successfully motivated the public during the campaigning by projecting anti people policies being implemented by the TDP during its five years rule.
