Temple Desecration: 5 teams formed to track culprit in Vizianagaram district

Ramatheertham (Vizianagaram dist): Vizianagaram district superintendent of police B Rajakumari appealed to people and leaders of various political parties to maintain peace and harmony as Ramatheertham temple incident is a sensitive issue.

She said that the police are already in their job and they will certainly crack the mystery behind the desecration of temple. She announced incentives for those who furnish information regarding the miscreants who beheaded the idol at the temple.

The SP said in a statement on Saturday that five special teams were deployed under the supervision of central crime station DSP J Papa Rao. She said a case was registered immediately after inspecting the place on December 29, clues and dog squads were pressed into service.

On the clues given by dog squad, the water in the pool was pumped out and head of the idol was retrieved. She said an hacksaw blade and broken lock were noticed near the temple and they are collecting technical details of the offence.

Rajakumari appealed to the leaders of political parties not to instigate people through their speeches and warned of severe action against those who pose a threat to law and order in the region

She said that while the temple authorities were ready to arrange CC cameras on the hillock with the suggestion of police, the incident occurred just one day before the arrangement of CC cameras. She said that anyone having information about the incident should furnish it to her mobile or WhatsApp No 9440795900.
