Tension prevails at Rama Teertham as miscreants beheads Rama's idol in Vizianagaram

Ramateertham ( Vizianagaram): Just one day before the arrival of the Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to this district, an unwanted incident has happened and tension prevailed as some miscreants have vandalized the 400 years old Kodanda Rama temple at Ramateertham village of Nellimarla Mandal in Vizianagaram district.

On Tuesday the locals found that the idol of Srirama in Kodanda Rama temple at Bodi Konda( a hill) nearby the village was damaged by some unidentified rogues. Actually, SitaramaSwamy temple is located at Ramateertham village and devotees in huge number visit the temple and offer poojas. Apart from this, there is another temple atop of Bodikonda of the same village and even locals offer poojas here too.

But on Tuesday locals found that the statue of Srirama is damaged and the head was separated from the idol and it was suspected to be taken with them or dumped somewhere in the forest. After getting information, locals started rushing to the temple. SP B.Rajakumari also visited the temple and suspected that some miscreants might have involved in this unwanted incident. The investigation is initiated.

She visited the temple and deployed clues team to find out the evidence of the miscreants. On the other side, the issue has attracted the attention of the political parties. After getting information, the local Telugu Desam leaders S.Ravisekhar and others have rushed to the temple and staged a dharna at the foot of the hill. They demand the government to take action on the miscreants and provide security to the temples.

BJP district president R.Pavani and others also visited the temple and staged a dharna and condemned the brutal incident and demanded the government to find out the criminals and safe guard the temple. On the other side, MLA of Nellimarla B.Appala Naidu visited the temple and reviewed the situation. Srinivasananda Swamy, Chairman of Ramateertham Parirakshana Parishad also visited the temple and stated that its an insulting incident and the emotions of the devotees are hurt. The government should rapidly act on this issue and create confidence among the public and provide protection to all the temples in the state.
