Tensions erupts in Palasa after TDP leaders house arrested for protesting in Srikakulam

Tensions erupts in Srikakulam district following the house arrest of TDP leaders. Former MLA Gautham Shivaji has been placed under house arrest by the police in Sompeta. Also in Nimmada, TDP state president Atchennaidu and MP Rammohan Naidu placed under house arrest in Palasa. Section 144 was imposed in Palasa to prevent any untoward incidents. Police forces were heavily deployed at the statue of Sardar Gouthu Latchanna.

The TDP has called for protests against Minister Appalaraju's remarks on Sarthar Gouthu Latchanna. The police were alerted after YSRCP leaders were also planned for protests. Earlier, the controversy erupted over the statue of Gouthu Latchanna .Lachana in the Palasa with the minister's remarks on the removal of the Lachanna statue.

The minister alleged that the TDP leaders were cleverly licensed to occupy the land by erecting the temple land. This is the first thing that comes to the minds of the locals when there is a discussion on land grabbing in Palasa. He said that it is not good to drag Gouthu Latchanna name for politics.
