The bridge that connects three States cries for attention
Kurnool: Naguladinne Bridge that connects Telangana and Andhra Pradesh besides Karnataka is crying for attention. Though the reconstruction works were started in 2009, they have not yet been completed.
The bridge is planned on River Tungabhadra near Naguladinne village in Nandavaram mandal in Kurnool district of AP connecting Rajapuram village in Aiza mandal of Mahaboobnagar district in Telangana state. There were heavy floods in 2009 and the bridge which was existing till then washed in Tungabhadra river.
The then government immediately ordered to take up reconstruction of the bridge and had also sanctioned Rs.42 crores. Though the amount was sanctioned in 2009, construction was taken up in 2013. After bifurcation of Telugu speaking states, government of AP is monitoring the construction works.
So far, the government has spent Rs.38 crores for the construction works, but the 900-metre-long bridge has not yet been completed. The works are progressing at snail's pace even six years after their launch.
The people in the borders of AP and Telangana used to travel through the bridge for various works daily.
Even transportation to Karnataka, Telangana and AP was very frequent through this bridge before it washed away in floods. Now transportation between these states has completely come to halt and the people by risking their lives are travelling through the incomplete bridge.
An iron ladder from the river bottom to the top of the bridge was fixed for the workers to climb and the officials to monitor the work progress. People of AP and Telangana are climbing the iron ladder to reach the other ends of the bridge (river). Though the people are well aware that it is risk tot their lives, under unavoidable circumstance they are forced to travel the way.
If the people of Aieza mandal in Telangana want to go Adoni they have travel through Kurnool to reach Adoni which is laborious and time consuming. By travelling via Naguladinne Bridge, the people can reach to their desired destination in less time and with less expenditure. The people of both states are demanding the government for the early completion of the bridge and save from human loss. It is highly difficult to cross the river during rainy season.
