Andhra Pradesh: YSRCP leader Devineni Avinash on Friday has ruled out the rumours over the hike in the electricity charges in the state. He said that the TDP leaders are misleading the public and spreading the false news over the hike in electricity charges. "The increase in electricity charges is unrealistic, even if the reading is taken together for two months and bills are charged separately for two months, " Avinash asserted.

Avinash said the power consumption has been increased due to the lockdown. During the tenure of Chandrababu the electricity charges have been increased. "TDP leaders have been watching movies in their homes and doing fake hunger strikes, " Avinash opined.

Earlier, the government has reportedly ordered the Distribution companies to postpone the collection of electricity bills till June 30. The decision was taken after being criticised for charging the high rates on power consumption. Going by the details, amid coronavirus outbreak in the state, the power companies have not issued the bills for the April month and were asked to pay bill according to March. However after taking the reading of power consumption for the month of April and May, the units consumed was exceeded 500 units. With this the tarrif has increased leading to surge in the current bills making it hard for the public to pay bills.

The above scenario has given a good chance for the opposition parties, which have taken a dig at the government over the increase in electricity charges. However, the government has clarified and asserted that the bill be charged as per dynamic system. Meanwhile, Avinash on Friday came hard at TDP for false criticism.
