Thousands take a holy dip in Godavari

Rajamahendravaram: Thousands of people had a holy dip in River Godavari in the early hours of Tuesday as auspicious Karthika Masam commenced. After taking the dip the people rushed to Siva temples for the darshan.

At many temples, serpentine queue lines were seen and the temple managements made arrangements for the people for hassle-free darshan. Pushkara Ghat, Saraswathi Ghat and Kotilingala Ghat in the city were crowded with the devotees who thronged them for a holy bath. Special pujas were offered in the temples on the occasion.

All the important Siva temples like Bhimeswara Swamy temple at Draksharama, Chaya Someswara Swamy temple at Kotipalli, Chalukya Kumara Rama Bhimeswara Swamy temple at Samalkot, Veereswara Swamy temple at Muramalla, Baneswara Swamy temple at Banapuram, Kukkkuteswara Swamy at temple Pithapuram, Uma Markanedeya Swamy temple, Sarangadhara Swamy temple, Uma Kotilingeswara Swamy temple, Veereswara Swamy temple, Kundaleswara Swamy temple Kundaleswaram and Kamandaleswara Swamy temple Ryali were decked up for Karthika masam.
