Three-tier security provided for EVMs at strongrooms: Collector

District Collector J Nivas assures that there is no need to doubt about the security of EVMs stored at strong rooms

Srikakulam: A three-tier security has been arranged at strong rooms where EVMs were kept and no need to doubt on it, said District Collector and Election Officer J Nivas. At a press conference here on Tuesday, he explained that CRPF, armed police and state regular police have been deployed at strong rooms for tight security.

``We have replaced VV pats at 124 polling stations regarding Parliament polls and at 125 polling stations regarding assembly segments due to technical glitches,'' he stated. Through C-vigil teams we have registered 14 cases regarding parliament segment and 17 relating to assembly segments during elections. At 48 polling stations, polling was continued even after 9.30 pm on 11th April due to technical issues, the Collector explained and added that there is no need to doubt about EVMs security.

Regarding panchayat elections, he said that they will publish voters lists at all gram panchayats by 10th May and receive objections from voters later. Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu, DRO, K.Narendra Prasad, district panchayat officer, B Koteswara Rao, DRDA, PD, A Kalyan Chakravarthy and rural water supply SE, T Srinivasulu were also present.
