Tirumala: Religious fervour marks Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam
Tirumala: The traditional temple cleansing festival Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam was performed with religious fervour at Tirumala temple on Tuesday ahead of Vaikunta Ekadasi, a major religious festival being observed at the famed shrine.
Talking to mediapersons outside the temple after the fete, Additional EO A V Dharma Reddy said this traditional fete is observed four times in a year during annual Brahmotsavams, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Ugadi and Anivara Asthanam on the Tuesdays occurring before these major religious events.
Meanwhile, as part of the massive cleaning exercise, an aromatic mixture called Parimalam made of medicinal plants and roots was sprayed on the walls, roofs of the temple and other sub-shrines located inside Tirumala temple as a disinfectant after the cleaning.
This entire activity took place between 6 am and 12 noon. Later, the devotees were allowed for darshan. TTD Board members Sekhar Reddy, temple Deputy EO Harindranath and Peishkar Jaganmohanacharyulu were also present
Vaikunta Ekadasi and Vaikunta Dwadasi at Srivari temple on Dec 25 and 26:
For the first time ever in the known history of Srivari temple, the TTD is organising a 10-day Vaikunta Dwara Darshan to devotees commencing on Vaikunta Ekadasi day December 25 and up to January 3.
As part of the festivities on December 25, Tiruppavai Parayanams will be held at the temple between 12.05 am and 1.30 am. Since the V-Day is occurring on Friday, Abhisekam will be performed in Ekantham between 1.30 am and 2.30 am followed by Tomala Seva and Archana also in Ekantham while Nijapada Darshan stands cancelled to cope with the rush.
After the predawn rituals, the Vaikunta Dwara Darshan will commence at 4.30 am and go on till midnight.
The TTD is organising procession of Swarna Rathotsavam between 9 am and 11 am in which Sri Malayappa Swamy along with His consorts atop the golden chariot bless devotees all along four Mada streets. Later in the evening, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva will be conducted between 5 pm and 7 pm. This will be followed by Adhyayanotsavams at Ranga Nayakula Mandapam between 9 pm and 10 pm.
Chakrasnanam on Dec 26: While on December 26, Vaikuntha Dwadasi, Chakrasnanam will be performed in Swami Pushkarini, for the first time ever since Covid lockdown. The TTD has cancelled all Arjita Sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam etc. on December 24, 25 and 26 in view of Vaikunta Ekadasi and Dwadasi festivals keeping in view the heavy rush of devotees expected to visit the shrine.
