Tirumala: Students to count money in TTD

Tirumala: In an effort to accelerate the sorting and counting of Hundi offerings, the TTD decided to involve local college students on regular basis in the counting process.

Additional EO AV Dharma Reddy on Wednesday held a meeting with the principals of various colleges including TTD and engineering colleges under SV University here on involving the students on a regular basis in the counting process.

As the TTD requires huge manpower both skilled and unskilled for Parakamani, the students were taken first on pilot basis.

He urged the principals of all the colleges falling under the purview of SV University to send their students for involving them in counting the Hundi collections to speed up the works.

The counting of coins are being held in the TTD administrative office premises while currency notes and other valuable offerings like gold, silver etc are being conducted in Tirumala temple after emptying the Hundi in the shrine. The Parkamani both at Tirumala and Tirupati is held in two shifts from 7 in the morning to 6 in the evening and some time if the offerings are more the counting will be extended for a few more hours.

As the employees working in TTD are reluctant to be involved in the Parakamani, the TTD involved the teachers of government schools and colleges in two Telugu states and later retired officials of Andhra Bank, State Bank and also department of accounts and auditing for Parakamani in addition to limited number of TTD staffs.

Reddy sought the principals of all the colleges falling under the purview of SV University send their students for involving them in counting the Hundi collections. Parakamani Deputy EO Venkataiah and principals of 25 colleges were also present.
