Tirupati: 6-month-old girl tests positive for Covid

Tirupati: Covid-19 positive cases in the district have reached 256 till now with the two more persons including a six-month-old baby girl were tested positive for virus on Wednesday. With 157 patients are recovered and discharged so far, the number of active cases remain at 98 in the district with one patient from Srikalahasti was dead.

Causing concern, a six-month old baby girl was tested positive and shifted to state Covid hospital SVIMS. According to DM&HO Dr M Penchalaiah, the baby was the daughter of guest workers couple who were among the 38 people returned to district from Maharashtra on May 23. They earlier migrated to that state in search of livelihood. On their return they were kept at a quarantine centre in Kanipakam and later shifted to Vikruthamala of Yerpedu mandal.

This baby girl belongs to a family of four guest workers of KVB Puram mandal. Rest of all four others were tested negative. Since baby was tested positive, tests will be conducted on those four persons also after a gap of seven days. He made it clear that the baby was doing well and the health condition is stable.

Meanwhile, according to the bulletin issued by the DM&HO, so far 27,043 samples were collected in the district out of which 26,744 results are released while 299 results are awaited. On Wednesday, two patients were discharged from state Covid hospital while six others discharged from Ruia hospital.
