Tirupati: Awareness meet held for passengers, vendors, Safai Karmacharis
Tirupati: The South Central Railway (SCR) has initiated several steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
All the major railway stations, trains and the passenger use areas like platforms, seating area, seats, grab rails, door rails and window areas are being cleaned with disinfectants.
As a preventive measure against spread of the virus, it was decided by the Railways to supply woollen blankets in the AC coaches on demand only to the passengers till April 15.
All the reserved passengers were also intimated through SMS about the change in the supply of blanket facility. Bed sheets, pillows and covers will be suppled as usual. Accordingly, temperatures in the AC coaches will be maintained at 23 to 25 degrees during the period.
Meanwhile, a COVID-19 awareness programme was held at Tirupati railway station on Sunday. Station Director S Nagaramana Sarma, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Surendra Naik and others have explained various precautions to be taken by the passengers, vendors, Safai karmacharis and others.
They told them about the importance of disinfecting the railway compartments and other areas in the premises and about the need of frequent hand wash. Station Manager Kumar Swamy Raju, Dr Narasimha Nishanth, health officer Hemraj Meena and others participated.
