Tirupati: Brahmotsavams commence at Kapileswara Swamy temple

Tirupati: The annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple here were started on Friday with the ceremonious Dhwajarohanam.

TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal said that as per Shaiva Agama tradition, the annual fete, which commenced here on Friday will continue till February 23.

During the Dwajarohanam at 8.04 am in Kumbha Lagnam Nandi Dhwaja was hoisted atop the temple mast amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns at the temple premises. The EO said TTD had spent Rs 20.50 lakhs on civil engineering works and Rs 6 lakhs towards electrical decorations and 4 tonnes of flowers for the annual event.

Pushkarani at the temple was cleaned up and Anna Prasadam, water, buttermilk, milk etc.will be served to pilgrims in the morning and evening.

On Mahasivaratri day on February 21, Annaprasadam will be served to thousands of devotees who throng to witness the deity and Nandi Vahana Seva.

The EO said about 250 Srivari sevaks, 150 scouts were deployed apart from TTD security to offer services to devotees.

JEO P Basanth Kumar, DyEO Subramanyam and Superintendent Bhupati were also present.
