Tirupati: Chittoor district eyes top slot in SSC examination results

Tirupati: The district education department has been making all necessary efforts to stand on top in the SSC results this year. They want to improve the position further from the last two years and wants to secure first place this time in the state.

After bifurcation of the state, the district has showed poor performance by standing at the bottom of all districts for three consecutive years. However, with sustained efforts, it obtained fifth place in 2018 by jumping eight places.

This has raised the confidence levels of officials and teachers as well who strived hard to improve the results further and got third place in 2019 examinations.

The authorities took steps to prepare study material called 'Vijaya Sadhana' by well experienced and trained teachers in an examination-oriented way. It helped the students well in securing good marks and some other districts have also followed it by taking the model from here.

This year, a major change in the examination pattern was introduced by the government by removing bit paper completely. Students have to write answers in descriptive way only. It was believed that bit paper used to help students to get at least 50 per cent of the pass marks. Keeping in view these factors, this time, Vijaya Sadhana material was designed and distributed already to students in government schools.

Speaking to The Hans India, in-charge DEO C Vijayendra Rao said that the study material of all subjects compiled in one book for both English and Telugu mediums will make a major impact on the students. Under 'Spandana' programme, SSC students were conducted tests once in every 15 days which helped in assessing their understanding of the subject. Since the syllabus was completed by December itself, considering the performance in these tests, teachers are focussing to address the lapses of students in every subject.

Special study classes are being conducted in morning and evening sessions to see that students read the subjects in a systematic way. District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta has been reviewing the progress periodically and visiting the schools frequently to spend time with SSC students. The teachers have been making house visits to motivate the students and their parents on the importance of examinations. Some motivational lectures for students and training programmes for teachers were also held with a view to achieve best results, he said.
