Tirupati: Congress party would build up public opinion to press the YSR Congress Party government to fulfill all its poll promises made in the election manifesto particularly the special category status (SCS), the main plank on which it won the elections but now remained silent on the issue, said PCC general secretary Penubala Chandrasekhar.

Speaking to media here on Wednesday, Chandrasekhar said that as a prelude to building up public opinion, the PCC president sent a four-page open letter to Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy pinpointing his government failures and making it clear in the letter that 90 per cent of the election promises of YSRCP remain unfulfilled.

He released the copies of the letter to the media. The Congress leader said PCC president Sailajanath in the letter clearly said that the his government turned into a one show and reflecting dictatorial tendency and scant regard to Constitution and rule of law.

Chandrasekhar said that the thumping majority the YSRCP has got in the election only saw the party destroying or weakening many of the Constitutional institutions like State Election Commission and AP Legislature Council. The party which all along been roaring that SCS was not the demand but is the right of state till the election is now, keeping quiet on the issue despite getting 151 MLAs and 22 MP seats, he averred.

Citing the AP High Court verdicts against YSRCP government, he said more than 50 judgements went against the government and no state in the country has got such a big number of jolts from the court. Apart from these issues, the PCC president also strongly opposed shifting of state capital as it is detrimental to state development and resented the diversion of SC, ST Sub–Plan funds.

He said the party would soon chalk out a plan to build public against the YSRCP government failures.

The YSRCP government within a year of its rule turned more anti-people than the previous TDP regime, he declared.

Congress leader Chittibabu and others were present.
