Tirupati: Gaiety marks Krishnashtami celebrations
Tirupati: Janmashtami, the celebration of Lord Krishna birth was observed in the pilgrim city with gaiety and religious fervour. However, due to the Covid restrictions, the celebrations were limited to temples and only a limited number of people were allowed to participate in most temples in the city.
Special pujas including Abhishekam, Archana were performed to the deity (Moolavarlu) in Sr Kirshna Swamy temple and later Snapana Thirumanjanam to the processional deity and later Unjal seva was conducted in Tiruchanur temple on the occasion of Janmashtami.
In Tirumala, after special pujas to the processional deity of Lord Krishna, Asthanam was held in Ekantham i.e. limited to temple officials and staff in the shrine.
Janmashtami was also observed in ISKCON Lotus temple where special pujas performed to the deities Radha Gobinda. Due to Covid curbs, the festival was held in Ekantham in the shrine.
Marking the occasion, TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal offered pujas at Krishna temple in SV Gosala, where the EO also performed Gopuja amidst chanting of Vedic hymns. He offered fodder and milked a cow. Gosala Director Haranatha Reddy was also present.
On the occasion, Kishnashtami, recitation of the slokas from Sri Mahabhagavatham describing the birth of Lord Krishna was observed by
the devotees along with Sundarakanda parayanam which entered 125th day on Wednesday) in Nadaneerajanam platform followed by chanting of Govindanamams and Bhajan by a troupe from ISKCON Tirupati centre leaving the participants in a spiritual ecstasy. TTD Additional EO AV Dharma Reddy and others were present.
