Tirupati: ICMR gives permission for Plasma therapy at SVIMS hospital
Tirupati: With the fast-growing coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh for the last couple of days, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has sanctioned permission for the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) Tirupati to go for plasma trials. Dr Jawahar Reddy, Special CS of the Department of Health has said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said that Plasma Therapy would be done on a trial basis method for COVID-19 Patients. Jawahar Reddy said that the plasma will be collected from those who got treated from coronavirus and trials be done to the patients.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, out of 8,148 samples were tested across the state as many as 48 appeared positive for coronavirus taking the tally to 2719. While 55 people have recovered from the virus and discharged and the number of active cases in the state stands at 759.
On the other hand, a total of 1903 people have been discharged from hospitals across the state so far and a total of 57 people died of coronary disease across the state.
