Tirupati: KVKs advised to adopt latest technologies
Tirupati: The Quinquennial Review Meeting (QRM) of ICAR scientists advised the Krishi Vignana Kendras (KVKs) to adopt latest technologies and also arrange marketing facilities for the benefit of the farmers. A team of scientists constituted by Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) under chairmanship of Dr. SN Puri, former vice-chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, held the quinquennial review meeting in RASS Krishi Vignan Kendra near here. The team asked the agricultural graduates to play active role in taking the technology development to farmers and wanted them visit KVKs..
QRT member Dr Narella stressed on sustained efforts to motivate farmers to adopt farming according to land nature to reduce the cost of agriculture while the scientist members Dr G Nagaraja, Dr N Sudhakar and Dr YG Prasad Director of ICAR- ATARI (Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute), Hyderabad suggested to KVKs to adopt sericulture, horticulture and other crops in the districts tohelp farmers improve their income.
The meet reviewed in detail the activities by KVKs in the South AP for the benefit of marginal farmers, agriculture labourers and rural youth in the last 10 years. RASS-KVK president Dr G Muniratnam in his welcome address explained RASS-KVK activities for farmers for the past 27 years. Scientists from ANGRAU also participated.
