Tirupati: MCT targeting unauthorised constructions for income generation
Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) is targeting the unauthorised constructions for income generation. As part of BPS (building penalisation scheme ) implementation authorities, several times extended the last date. According to the municipal planning department for getting plan approval under BPS, the last date is November 31.
In view of that officials were conducting special mela for the last three days in MCT limits. So far they have cleared 34 pending applications under this BPS. Previously 156 applications were pending, now that number has come down to 116. Within the last two days, more than 20 laks of penalty was collected by the planning department officials as BPS fee.
In the meanwhile, the Commissioner instructed the ward planning secretaries to collect the information about unauthorized constructions which were constructed without municipal plan approval and pass on the information to their higher officials for taking further action.
Last two days the commissioner was seen sitting at mela and answering the doubts of BPS applicants. BPS MCT is anticipating more than Rs 3 crores funds through the planning department.
Already the commissioner warned the licensed planners to upload the BPS application with required details and documents, otherwise municipal corporation will reject the applications. Commissioner PS Girisha said that " we directed our ward secretaries to strictly monitor the unauthorised constructions and collect information from them to initiate the departmental action against the owners of the unauthorised construction".
