Tirupati: NCSC directs TTD to ensure quota for SCs in SVBC

Tirupati: National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman Prof Ram Sankar Kataria directed Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to ensure rule of reservation in its satellite channel SVBC. It means that the TTD should ensure that there are adequate number of employees belonging to Scheduled Castes in the SVBC.

Prof Kataria along with NCSC member Ramulu on Saturday reviewed with TTD officials on various activities and welfare measures being implemented by the management for Scheduled Castes in various departments, including SVBC, HDPP, Vedic University and other wings.

The NCSC Chairman said the TTD SC and ST Employees Association leaders brought to his notice that there was no adequate number of SC employees in SVBC as per reservation rule and wanted the TTD management to take measures immediately and see that the number SC employees is increased as per reservation rule, before the next meeting of the Commission.

Lauding the TTD for taking up Archaka training for SCs and STs, he said the Commission would visit a village in its next meeting to see the impact of the programme in appointing SCs and STs in village temples. He also appreciated TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal for conducting meeting regularly with SC, ST employees leaders to sort out the issues of the employees.

Earlier, the SC, ST employees leaders, in a representation to the Commission, said that TTD had failed to follow rule of reservation in SVBC. The employees' leaders sought allotment of TTD shops to SC, STs as per reservation rule. They also demanded that the TTD take steps to fill vacant posts.

District Collector Narayan Bharath Gupta, Chittoor SP Senthil Kumar, RDO Kanakanarsa Reddy, TTD officials, including Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional EO A V Dharma Reddy, Joint Executive Officer Basanth Kumar and other officials were present.
