Tirupati: Pilgrim city to get more electric crematoriums

Tirupati: Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said that the pilgrim city was experiencing problems in cremating the deceased and there was a need for a few more electrical crematoriums. That is why the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati availed the financial support of Tirupati Urban Development Authority to convert all the graveyards in the city as electrical crematoriums, he added.

Karunakar Reddy thanked the government whip and TUDA chairman Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy for extending his cooperation in this conversion. He applauded the efforts of municipal officials for taking initiation in creating basic amenities for residents.

Along with TUDA chairman Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy and MCT commissioner P S Girisha MLA, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy laid the foundation stone for construction of electrical crematorium at Balaji Colony at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore and inaugurated Harichandra Electrical Crematorium which was constructed at cost of Rs 1.50 crore at Devendra Theatre.

He said that TUDA has come forward to spend Rs 1.50 crore to modernise the graveyards with electrical crematorium facility.

He also laid foundation stone to construct culvert and sub canals for smooth flow of floodwater. MLA advised the officials to take steps for solving the submergence problem of low-lying areas of Kapila Theertham and Malwadi Gundam.
