Tirupati: Railways ready to address women employees woes: DRM
Tirupati: Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Guntakal, Alok Tiwari has said that the women employees participation is more in Indian railways than any other government organisation.
He participated in the Women's Day celebrations at Tirupati railway station here on Wednesday which the Railways has been organising from March 1 to 10 across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Tiwari said that the railways has started a campaign stating 'Each for Equal' to underline that all men and women were equal and the railways was the biggest employer of women employees. Several amenities have been provided for women at workplace to make them work in most convenient atmosphere, he added.
Equal opportunities were also being given to women to deal with any responsibility and all women railway stations were also set up like the one at Chandragiri station, where they have been discharging duties well, the DRM said. He said that they were always ready to address any problems of women employees and sought their representation more in all activities and added Indian Railways has taken up a theme 'I am generation equality', realising women's rights.
Station Director S Naga Ramana Sarma recalled an incident in which a woman passenger got down from a train with labour pains and delivered a female child with the help of surrounding women staff due to which both the mother and child were safe. DRM's better half Nithu Tiwari, and others also spoke on the occasion. A few women employees also presented their views and said that all women working in the division were in the safest zone and thanked railway authorities for providing all amenities to them and addressing their needs.
Station Manager K Rajendra Prasad, Government Raiway Police DSP S Ramesh Babu, CI Ramakrishna and others were present.
