RTC resumes bus services to Srikalahasti

Tirupati: APSRTC resumed bus service from here to Srikalahasti on Tuesday.

In fact, RTC had resumed operation of bus services in Chittoor district from May 21 after the government relaxed the lockdown rules. But bus service to

Srikalahasti was not taken up as the town is declared as red zone (containment area) due to reporting of Covid-19 cases.

More than 50 Covid-19 cases were registered from the temple town, the highest number in the district. And the town has been declared as red zone. However, as the District Collector N B Gupta gave his approval, the RTC has begun its bus service from Tuesday.

Regional Manager T Chengal Reddy said that limited number of bus services will be operated between Tirupati and Srikalahasti and the number will be increased further. He said bus services to V Kota and Molakalacheruvu, the other two containment areas in the district were also resumed from today after obtaining special permission from the Collector.

With the resumption of bus service to Srikalahasti, buses to Satayavedu will be operated via Srikalahasti benefitting the people of the mandals BN Kandriga, Varadaiapalem and Sri City areas, he said.
