Tirupati: Tributes paid to historian Veturi Prabhakara Sastry

Tirupati: Joint Executive Officer, P Basant Kumar described renowned historian late Veturi Prabhakara Shastry as the architect for popularising Srivaru in the world of Bhakti and made great contributions for glorifying of Lord Venkateswara.

Participating in the 132 Jayanti function of Sri Veturi Prabhakar Shastri, the JEO garlanded the bronze statue of Sastry who transcribed the inscriptions and Annamacharya sankeertans.

He said Prabhakar Shastri who worked as Peishkar at Srivari temple had translated 1167 copper plate inscriptions which also included Annamacharya sankeertans. The celebrations also included a series of speeches by eminent literary persons on the historian at a meeting at the Sri Venkateswara Oriental College. Dr. Samudrala Lakshmaiah and Surendra, Principal of SV Oriental College and others were also present. Veturi 132 Jayanthi celebration was also held in SRi Venkateswara Vedic University.
