Tirupati: Warrant issued to nab 500 from Tamilnadu
Tirupati: In a major exercise aimed to contain red sanders smuggling, Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) issued warrants against 500 persons hailing from various places in Javadimalai Hills in Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu, who are wanted in red sanders smuggling cases registered here.
As many as ten teams of task force left for Tamil Nadu on Monday for the execution of the warrant for nabbing the wanted smugglers, who are still at large.
RSASTF Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr M Kantha Rao, who was leading the teams met Tiruvannamalai District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sibi Chakravarthy, seeking his support in executing the warrants issued against the 500 wanted smugglers. According to RSASTF sources here, a meeting of the task force and Tiruvannamalai police led by SP discussed the issues in detail and decided to provide the necessary support and security to the task force teams for the execution of warrant.
Accordingly, a team of senior police officials were deputed to accompany the ten task force teams for identifying the 500 wanted accused living in various hamlets in Javadimalai Hills in Tiruvannamalai district.
Kantha Rao said that the RSASTF taking the support of Tamil Nadu police for containing red sanders smuggling from Seshachalam forests. Before leaving for Tamil Nadu on Monday, Kantha Rao along with Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Tirupati Saravanan held a meeting with the task force personnel including team members deputed to TN for the issuance of warrants against the 500 accused for their prosecution.
It may be noted here that it was for the first time the task force taking up such a major exercise across the district in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu for the execution of the warrant with the support of Tamil Nadu police for nabbing a large number 500 persons involved in the red sanders smuggling which would go a long way for speedy disposal of the cases for punishment of the guilty which in turn would help check red sanders smuggling.
